Shadows of Night

This ongoing compilation of long exposure night work is a means to finding significance in the absence of light, the moments we miss at night. I've found a sort of peace, while everything has settled and everyone has gone to bed. It's this time that I've taken to reimagine what life would look like in the absence of sunlight. Would our life source be a chemosynthetic warmth like organisms that dwell on the seafloor? Maybe we'd be forced to live off the love we find in one another.

Landon Yost is a film director and documentary photographer based in Brooklyn, New York.

He was born and raised on a sheep farm in Frederick, MD where he was immersed into a fine art community from birth. As a teenager he began capturing significant moments in his life in an effort to keep them alive.

After a short stint in photojournalism, Landon received a B.A. in Screen Studies and Film Production from Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts at The New School.

Landon yearns to reflect on the sincerity in fleeting moments throughout our lives. To be conscious of the emotions that pass through us, and if we're lucky, hold onto the meaningful parts a little while longer.
