Zeeuws-Vlaanderen (the Netherlands) is where my roots lie. The tranquility, the open space, and the sea form the fertile ground for my creativity. Here, I feel at home; here, I feel safe. The region reflects much of what inspires me: vulnerability and resilience, dynamism and stillness. These contrasting qualities are also clearly visible in my work. My work often begins with intuition. This gut feeling forms the foundation of my photography. Once I have a clear vision of my fascination or subject, I dive deeper—conducting visual and theoretical research, exploring symbolism and references, and scouting locations. This process results in images that find a balance between reality and interpretation. Many of my photographs are digital collages, composed solely of self-created images. Everything originates on location, but I combine photos to craft the perfect moment. Vulnerability is at the core of everything I create. It is a strength I have learned to appreciate through the challenges life has brought me. By embracing my sensitivity and boundaries, I discovered a deeper connection with myself and others. My work reflects this process, showing how vulnerability can be a source of strength, beauty, and connection. We live in a world where feeling, truly feeling, become secondary. Through my work, I hope to reach that instinctive part of people, encouraging them not just to look, but to pause, to feel, and to engage. Because in that moment lies connection, not only with ourselves but also with those around us.
