FAQS – FEEDBACK
How our feedback works.
For this reason, we have created a new paid option for receiving feedback. This affords our Editors the time to fully absorb and reflect on your work, and respond with a detailed written critique covering aspects that can be evaluated in an online space such as overall impact, technical aptitude, originality and accompanying statements. You can purchase feedback on our Enter page or in my LF.
You will first need to purchase a feedback credit, which you can do via our Enter page or in my LF. Once you’ve done this, you can request the feedback at any time via my LF.
You’ll be asked to upload a series of work and any accompanying text, via an uploader very similar to that used for the monthly competitions and Series Award. As with those, please ensure that each image is .jpg or .jpeg format and under 8mb in size.
Our Editors will provide a detailed critique (2 or more pages in PDF format) covering aspects that can be evaluated in an online space such as overall impact, technical aptitude, originality and accompanying statements. It will cover both the strongest aspects of your work, along with where and how you can improve.
Our Editors are very experienced professionals, who write about photography for a living. Of course feedback is always subjective to some extent, and we would encourage all photographers to seek feedback from as many sources – friends, their network, in-person reviews, online etc. – as they can.
The feedback will be emailed to you 2-3 weeks after submission.
One of our team of Editors will be assigned to critique your work. These are people who have years of experience in the field of photography and portfolio reviews, and write about photography for a living. Some also have roles as gallerists or curators.
We ask that for each round of feedback, you only submit one body of work – a cohesive series or a set of submissions you’ve made to Life Framer.
You are welcome to request feedback more than once so that you cover more than one body of work. To do so, just purchase additional feedback credits via our Enter page or my LF.
Their responses have been overwhelmingly positive, and you can read some of their testimonials here.
We are nonetheless always looking to improve the process, and so welcome all comments and suggestions on the feedback – whether positive or negative – particularly after you have received and reflected on your own.
