“COLOURS” – Announcing the winners
We’re delighted to present the results of Life Framer edition II’s fifth theme. Life is a stream of colour. Red, blue, yellow, and a billion pigments in between… For this theme we asked you to show us colour-inspired photographs – literally and figuratively. Scenes, details, narratives or moods. Subtle tones or technicolour daydreams! The photography competition was judged by Evgeny Tchebotarev.
Evgeny Tchebotarev is the cofounder of the 500px online photography community. The Toronto based start-up is aimed at aspiring and professional photographers. It has now 10 million monthly active users! It is an incredible place to find inspiration and connect photographers with one another.
You can discover the winning and shortlisted images below and join the discussion on Facebook and Twitter. Congratulation to all the talented photographers featured and thank you all for your support. A colour is as strong as the impression it creates!
Winner: Anne Barlinckhoff
“This is definitely a winning photo. It reminds me of the style you see in Vogue or Communication Arts. The key to this photo is not just the subject — it’s great by itself – but the colour correction, which is natural, and not always easy to achieve. Bright details like the red nails finish the composition perfectly.” – Evgeny Tchebotarev
“For the second and third spots I’ve been internally debating quite a bit. But ultimately I think this photo has something that others don’t — it has motion, but in a very subtle way, and it has not just colours but a palette. Red and brown are basically the same colour, and they are matched very elegantly.” – Evgeny Tchebotarev
“There are dozens of great photos that could be selected as a third place, but I picked this one because it’s so simple and yet it’s well matched. Two guys having lunch in a blue uniform and blue jeans against a blue wall… you know, that’s what makes photographers who they are – they notice things like that and they can turn an ordinary scene on its head by highlighting those details. A great photo!” – Evgeny Tchebotarev
